The moment that all New Englanders have been waiting for has finally arrived. You are cordially invited to attend our Annual Rhode Island Funeral Directors’ Outing/Clambake that will be held on Thursday, July 11, at Kempenaar’s Clambake Club, (401) 847-1441. (See directions below). The chowder and clamcakes will be served from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and the littlenecks will be served at 2:30 p.m. This “Authentic” New England Clambake will be held at 5:00 p.m. sharp. The New England clambake consists of steamers and mussels with drawn butter & broth, your choice of 1-1/4 lb New England Lobster* or Steak* and all meals are served with barbeque chicken (family style), BBQ drumstick, sausage – fresh fish, potato, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, brown bread and seasonal fruit platter with a sweet and your choice of coffee or lemonade. The cost of the New England Clambake is $115.00 per person. A cash bar will be available, however, we will have an open soda bar served throughout the day. As always, please feel free to bring along guests.

There will be many great door prizes as well as the raffle for the liquor basket.  Kempenaar’s green lawns, flowering shrubs, colorful flower beds and open air-pavilions, is the perfect setting for our Annual clambake.  You are welcome to compete in a game of horseshoes, volleyball or lawn bowling or just sit back and enjoy the attractive grounds.  They only serve one group at a time, so the 5 acres is totally for our exclusive use.

We will begin with a social gathering featuring Hors D’oeuvres and a cash bar from 6:00 pm to 6:45 p.m. Dinner Meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.

For this meeting, the dinner will be a buffet. The host has taken extra steps to ensure that gluten-free dietary restrictions are met.

(Appetizers – Hosted by Shalom Memorial Chapel: Nime Chow, Fried Ravioli, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon, and Beef Teriyaki). Some of these options are gluten-free.

(Buffet: Chicken Fingers, Beef Pad Thai, Barbequed Spare Ribs, Chicken Fried Rice, Vegetable Lo Mein, Rainbow Roll, California Roll, Spicy Shrimp Tempura Roll, Chicken w/Vegetable, Pork Lo Mein, Beef Broccoli, General Tso’s Chicken). Many of these options are gluten-free.

Buffet Cost @ $35 pp

Wreaths Across America

The 2023 RI Wreaths Across America Ceremony included the Gold Star Families, Governor Daniel McKee, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, Secretary of State Gregg Amore, Representatives from House Veterans Affairs, Officers of the RIFDA: Maria King President, Nicole Heywood, President-Elect and Anthony Nardolillo, vice President, Major General Christopher Callahan, Kasim Yarn, Director, RI Veterans Affairs and Guests from Ponagansett HS, and Goff Middle School.

The Wreaths Across America’s ceremony begins a week-long series of events designed to raise awareness and appreciation for the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and their families.

The ceremony takes place in most of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. and have a particular focus on family during the holidays.

Volunteers conduct the State House ceremonies each year in their respective state capitals. Dignitaries and special guests are invited to speak in honor of our veterans and active military.

These wreath-laying ceremonies are nonpolitical.
